City college students paint lanterns during the Asian Pacific Islander Center’s Mid-Autumn Festival Tuesday Sept. 26, 2023 in the quad outside the Student Center. Students enjoyed traditional mooncakes as they painted their lanterns. During the Mid-Autumn Festival it is common for children to carry around star-shaped lanterns, which are believed to bring good luck, banish evil spirits and shine a light on the children’s future.
