Hughes Stadium to host four high school championship games

City College’s Hughes Stadium will host four high school division championship games on Friday, Nov. 26 and Saturday, Nov. 27. 

The Division VII championship game between Le Grand High School and Woodland Christian High School will be played at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26 at Hughes Stadium. Le Grand, located south of Merced, is ranked No. 3 going into the game against the No. 1 ranked WCHS

The Division I championship game takes place between Folsom High School and Rocklin High School at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26. Folsom (ranked No. 2) beat Jesuit 22-21 with a successful two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter to secure their spot in the Division I championship game against the No. 1 ranked Rocklin High School. Folsom will enter the game with a two-game winning streak and ranked second in the division.

The Division VI championship game will be the first of three games played at Hughes Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 27. No. 3 ranked Rosemont High School looks to bring home the school’s first championship against the No. 1 ranked Argonaut High School in Jackson. Argonaut’s only championship win was in 2004, and the team is looking to take home its second in school history. The game takes place at 1 p.m. 

The Division II game between Monterey Trail High School and Central Catholic High School in Modesto will be played at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27. Monterey Trail, ranked No. 7, is on an eight-game winning streak with this being their third section final in a row. Central Catholic is ranked No. 1 and seeks the school’s first win in Division II.
