Creative Writing Wednesdays hosted by ASHÉ Center

The  ASHÉ Center at City College will host a series of events via Zoom called Creative Writing Wednesday on alternate Wednesdays through April.

The next Creative Writing workshop will be held on April 21 from 12:00 a.m-1:00p.m.

Aerial Young, a student at UC Davis, acts as coordinator for Creative Writing Wednesdays. She said the event was created to expose students to different writing styles and to make them feel more comfortable with writing. 

Young said the goal is to help inspire students who find writing essays difficult or boring.

“I try to cover anything fun and engaging but at the same time, questions that make students think and dig deep and form different understandings about themselves and their environment,” she added. “For example, one of our sessions we discussed past goals and how that differs from our present goals and who we are today.”

According to Young, the workshop is meant to help students develop their own creative writing style. She said being in a space that promotes writing through a creative lens benefits students. Students who are struggling with writing or want help looking over there writing then attending a workshop can help those students.
