Gianna Kuhar is a staff photographer for the Express. This is her first semester taking pictures for the Express. She is interested in meteorology and photography, with a focus on street, landscape and storm photography. 

Gianna’s avid fascination with photography began in 2012, eventually got her first camera in 2017. It all started when she took a film photography class at American River College and ended up having one of her images displayed at Viewpoint Photographic Art Center in Sacramento. From that point on, she has been chasing that next big photograph. 

Gianna was born and raised in Sacramento, but has lived in Kansas and Florida, which ultimately fueled her interest in meteorology. She is a registered storm spotter with “SKYWARN” and has spent three years chasing storms, most recently Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton in Florida. Her goal is to transfer to Florida State University, to pursue a B.S. in meteorology. With the combination of her A.A in journalism and B.S. in meteorology, she hopes to land a meteorologist job with a news network.
