City College students are constantly busy with exams, tests and homework, and that doesn’t leave them much time to sit back and relax. Now students can get the chance.
Instructional Media located in the Learning Resource Center hosts Movie Night every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. This ongoing event is free to students.
“For the students, it’s a chance to give them a break, but it also highlights the availability of all the library media as well,” says Nicole Woolley, librarian of Instructional Media at City College.
According to Woolley, the library has a collection of 6,000 movie on a wide array of subjects. Many of the movies are educational films which can only be viewed on campus. Most feature films can be checked out from the library and taken home for one week.
Recent movies that that the library staff played for students includes “Gattaca”, “City of God”, “The Usual Suspects” and “Edward Scissorhands.”

Currently, the LRC staff chooses the films that will be screened each week. However that could change in the future.
“We are open to suggestions from students,” Woolley says.
The LRC staff announces its weekly film pick on the official City College Facebook page according to Woolley.
Woolley said the staff has picked the Pixar animation “Up” for the next showing. Movies are screened in LRC 105.
