The City College Choral department performed their annual Pops Showcase on Nov. 15-16.

The singers performed solos and duets with a background CD or with live piano. The genre of music performed ranged from pop to show tunes.

“They prepare their own music and have to audition to be in the concert,” says City College music professor Doreen Irwin, whose voice students performed. “It gives the soloists a chance to show off their abilities.”

The event has been performed at City College for the past 20 years. The showcase was held in the Little Theatre inside the Performing Arts Center and had a turnout of approximately 50 attendees per show.

Irwin said she was pleased with how the performances turned out this year.

“I was very happy with how everything went,” says Irwin. “The students are taught stage performance and they displayed it well.”
