Panthers wrestling team falls to rival Sierra College

With the wrestling season coming to a close, the City College wrestling team continues to work hard toward its goal of winning the California State Championship, which begins on Dec. 10 at Victor Valley Community College.

In its third-to-last home match, the City College wrestling team lost to Sierra College by a final score of 28-12 on Oct. 27 in the North Gym.

Panthers wrestler Ben Gacayan felt like he could have performed better on the mat, despite winning his match.

Wrestling head coach Dave Pacheco complimented Sierra College on its victory, but still hates losing, especially to a rival.

“Anytime you lose you don’t feel good. You don’t want to lose to your rival, but you got to give them credit,” Pacheco says.

The Panthers wrestling team will be home for just two more matches, against San Jose State University and San Joaquin Delta College on Nov. 17, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
