Amelia Biscardi, the Express social media editor for the fall 2020 semester, discovered the Express in her 2nd semester at City College and has been working for the online news site for three semesters.

“I want students to be aware of what’s going on, especially now in COVID. It’s hard figuring out what’s going on at college and what resources there are, and if we at the Express can help, that’s great,” said Biscardi. “I enjoy working on things that matter.”

Her interest in journalism sparked in high school where the class was offered as an electiveM and her love for writing drew her to join the class.

“I remember every day I went to that class I was so fascinated with the subject, and I loved learning about press law,” said Biscardi.“I love storytelling, I love interviewing people, I love learning and telling people’s stories through the medium of journalism.”

Biscardi said that she has had an overall positive experience at the Express, where the environment feels like hanging out with friends. Staff members have a genuine passion for journalism and work together to put out the best product they can.

Although she’s sometimes busy with work and school, Biscardi likes spending time with friends and family, as well as stargazing.

“I wish I had very clear hobbies, but I don’t,” Biscardi said. “I like to write fictional stories for fun. I haven’t been doing that the past couple months because I’ve been very busy with school and work. But it’s always super fun to watch a baseball game with my family.”

She plans on transferring to Chico State to pursue a master’s degree in journalism after finishing her bachelor’s degree at City College.
