The perfect season. Teams dream about it, few make it, and many miss it. The dream of an almost perfect season may become reality to our very own women’s golf team.

The City College women’s golf team has been on a roll this year, taking the season by storm and going with 45 wins and one loss. The team started off its season winning the Desert Classic in Palm Springs.

After last year’s second place title in conference and being ranked No. 2 in state, the ambitions of the team is to win conference, make it to state and take home the state title.

“We’re a younger team, but we are probably scoring a little better than we did last year,” said coach Tim Kiernan. “We would like to win state title. That’s always our goal but our first goal is to win conference, then go to NOR CAL and win state.”

The team is trying to keep its scores very consistent so they will be close to one another and not all over the place.

“I hope to keep my scores consistent in the 70s,” said player Elisse Van Deusen.

“I think we will do well. We are consistent. Some days we have bad days but somehow we seem to pull through and win,” said player Esa Nidoy.

Members of the women’s golf team said they find that with this young new team, the chemistry of players and the coach work to their advantage. The women give one another encouragement before the first tee off and put trust into one another knowing they will do well.

“I think that we mesh really well and it is really easy for us to get along,” said player Michelle Bello. “I enjoy golf because there is always a different course and there is always something new.”

Being a strong and united team, the women face the last few games of the season with their heads held high and knowing that they have the support of each other and their coach. They intend to keep up the good work and bring home the state title this year for women’s golf.
