Veteran’s best friend to visit campus 9/28

The Voices of Hope Club and the Staff Resource Center are hosting a book signing, with guest speaker Luis Carlos Montalvan, author of the New York Times best-seller “Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him,” Sept. 28.

Retired Army Captain Montalvan, accompanied by his dog, Tuesday, the main character of his book, will be discussing the book along at the book signing. Montalvan returned from Iraq suffering from a brain injury, physical disabilities and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He will speak about the discrimination he faced bringing awareness to his disability and access guidelines for service animals.

“It is pretty amazing, because he is a huge figure in the world of service dogs and veterans,” said Jan Lee, faculty adviser of the Voices of Hope Club. “He experienced quite a bit of prejudice.”
