Two men were arrested for a Feb. 15 hate crime that happened near City College’s Davis Center against an African-American female UC Davis student.

Lonny Doyal Lee, 24, of West Sacramento, and Justin Sheppard, 22, of Sacramento, were arrested for assault and battery and committing a hate crime against the woman, as well as public intoxication, according to a FOX40 news report.  A third suspect, Jake Lee, 22, of West Sacramento, was arrested for public intoxication only. The men were not UC Davis students.

The student lives in the West Village neighborhood on UC Davis campus, according to a FOX40 news report following the crime. She reportedly called campus police Feb. 15 some time after being assaulted around 3 a.m.

CBS 13 reported that the suspects threw items at the student and targeted her with racial slurs.

The victim was not sexually assaulted and did not require medical treatment, as reported by FOX40.

Authorities are investigating the case as a hate crime.
