TBD continued on with very little downtime if you made it out to one of the various after parties. Temperatures crept back up to the 90’s, but it’s not enough to keep people from dancing. With so many big names, and almost twice as many sets as Friday, attendance noticeably increased.

Fortunately, TBD sponsor Zico Coconut Water was generous enough to give away coconut water for simply liking their Facebook page. That made it easy to stay hydrated throughout the day.

Indie rock band Joywave hit the Lowbrau Stage with so much enthusiasm you could almost forgot your slowly developing sunburns all over your shoulders.

Although they’ve been active since 2010, Joywave’s popularity skyrocketed with the release of their latest album, “How Do You Feel Now?” Frontman Daniel Armbruster kept the crowd involved between songs and got people to jump, clap and sing along before closing with their hit single “Tongues.”

My favorite performance of the night was the instrumental synth-rock duo Ratatat. Even though I had been waiting to see these guys for years, I really couldn’t see how their live performance would be much different than listening to their music through speakers. Needless to say, I was stunned.

It was truly an exceptional experience. With the recent release of their album “Magnifique,” Evan Mast and Mike Stroud were able to play a mix of new singles and old classics. They had the most packed crowd I’d seen yet.

The rest of the night was an excitement driven blur of running from stage to stage in effort to see everybody.

Porter Robinson is practically a child prodigy, producing music since age 12. During his world tour sets he sings, DJs, plays piano and drums all while conveying emotional storytelling through his visuals. It’s hard not to feel nostalgic as he mixed Zelda’s Lullaby into his own “Goodbye to a World”.

Both Tycho and Chance the Rapper drew equally big crowds on opposite sides of the festival, which was somewhat disappointing since they both deserve 100% of an audience’s attention.

As closing headliner Pretty Lights started, it seemed like the festival attendance tripled. Colorado native Derek Vincent Smith has been a musician for over 15 years, and his experience showed in his DJ sets. He perfectly combined elements of funk, jazz, and hip hop styles into his dance music.

It’s hard to believe that day 2 came to a close, I’m already starting to dread the yearlong wait till the next TBD, and day 3 has barely begun.
