Tania Pardo to discuss gender equality for International Women’s Day

A political science professor  from Columbia will speak on campus March 9 on “Gender Dimensions of Rural Inequality, Environmental Justice, and Civil War”  to commemorate 2016 International Women’s Day.

Tania Guzman Pardo is a member of the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship, of 2015-16 and is a rural development consultant in Columbia.  She currently teaches at Javeriana University in Bogota, where she is lecturer in political science and government.

International Women’s Day aims to celebrate the economic, social and political achievement of women worldwide. It also aims to make people aware that progress has slowed in many parts of the world, so urgent action is needed to speed up gender equality, according to the International Women’s Day website.
