Students are still waiting for money

Faced with a record number of applicants this fall, the Financial Aid department has worked all semester to complete student applications so students can receive grants and loans before the spring semester beings, according to Catherine Fites, dean of enrollment and student services.

“We are working very hard to get the financial aid out. We have worked over 180 overtime hours since October,” Fites said.

How many have been granted? How many are waiting?

The financial aid department has currently completed consortium agreements, selective services appeals, federal work study, Cal Grants, federal supplemental opportunity grants, and academic competitiveness grant, Fites said.

However, Fites said, the department is currently working to process:

•    Verification files, such as tax documents, wages, income and all forms that are requested to verify that a student is independent       that were completed before Oct. 8.
