Shots fired near City College campus
Police searching for suspect

At approximately 1:24 p.m. on Sept. 6, seven gunshots were fired, with one shot hitting a vehicle in the area of Custis and 22nd avenues, about a half-mile from City College, according to the Los Rios Police Department.

According to a campus wide press release sent by LRPD a few hours after the shooting, the alleged shooter’s vehicle, a black 2006 Mercedes with California license plate number 6HUS945, was last seen fleeing westbound on 22nd Avenue.

Los Rios Police Department was first notified of the shooting by the Sacramento Police Department. Both units searched the area with no results.

The suspect is described by the LRPD as a heavy-set Hispanic male around 30 to 35 years old with a shaved head.

The shooting falls under the jurisdiction of SPD which, as of press time, was not available for comment.
