Despite allowing nine hits, the City College baseball team was able to beat Reedley College March 7 by a score of 5-2.

In the first inning of play, starting pitcher Taylor Shores started off rocky, walking the first two batters he faced. The team got out of the inning safely with Reedley having two players left on base.

Reedley was able to score in the second inning off an RBI single, but was stopped from doing any real damage in the inning.

The bottom of the third inning came with a bit of confusion when what seemed like an RBI triple for outfielder Christian Bracero was called an automatic double when the ball went under the outfield fence.

The bases were loaded in the third, when third baseman Jerrod Bravo hit a two-RBI single, bringing the score to 2-1 at the end of the third.

After three innings of play, Coach Derek Sullivan went to the bullpen and brought in pitcher Dom Campodonico.

The Panthers struck again in the fourth inning off an RBI single from outfielder Jared James.

Sullivan made one more pitching change in the seventh inning—bringing in Grant Yost—before bringing in closer Branden Nunn to close out the game.

The Panthers’ defense was able to hold Reedley from scoring any more runs. Designated hitter Timothy Hall had a RBI single in the sixth inning. The hit also advanced first baseman Robby Link to third, subsequently scoring on the throw home, bringing the score to 5-2.

The win was credited to Campodonico (1-1) and the save was given to Nunn (2).
