City College’s new and improved auditorium, the Performing Arts Center will debut on May 8 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. in front of the auditorium. Renovation of the 75-year-old building began June 2010 and had an estimated budget of $12 million.

Among those scheduled to speak during the first part of the ceremony are City College President Kathryn Jeffery and Los Rios Community College District Chancellor Brice Harris.

According to City College public information officer, Amanda Davis, City College students, community members, staff, other performing arts organizations, and both the architect and construction company involved with the renovation have also been invited to attend.

After the guest speakers share their thoughts at the ceremony, there will be a tour of the auditorium for the event’s attendants.
