More than 150 athletes from six contending colleges packed Hoos Pool for the Los Rios Invite Feb. 28 when the Panthers saw 317 points to place fifth.

The meet started with the women’s 400-yard medley relay. City College women’s Team A added 5.08 seconds to its entry time of 4:59.63 to place seventh among 10 teams. City College’s Team B recorded a time of 5:38.20, placing 10th in the event.

Up next was the men’s 400-yard medley relay. City College’s Team A dropped 13.85 seconds from its entry time of 4:16.43, landing the team first place in its heat, but seventh overall. Team B also dropped their time to 4:36.04, landing in 13th place overall.

Within the next 22 events, City College swimmers timed well in their respective heats, but stayed toward the middle of the pack for overall times of events.

The 25th event of the day was the women’s 400-yard freestyle relay. With a time of 4:35.07—adding 8.07 seconds to their entry time—Team A placed ninth overall in the event. Team B faired well in its heat to place third, but with a time of 5:03:24, placed 11th overall.

The final event was the men’s 400-yard freestyle relay. City College’s Team A placed sixth among 15 teams with a time of 3:34.67, which was 2.67 seconds more than its entry time.

In the same event, Team B dropped 7.66 seconds off its entry time to place 11th with a time of 3:58.34.
