Despite the slow start to the season, the Panthers turned it into a success with a strong second half.

After losing four of its first five games, City College came back winning five of the last six games.

The team closed out the season on Nov. 21 by defeating the Laney Eagles 40-17 in the Laney Eagles Bowl.

The Panthers earned the Mid-Empire Conference title after defeating the American River College Beavers, 54-51.

“The kids did a great job of executing,” Interim Head Coach Dannie Walker said. “They played with 100 percent effort. It’s what our philosophy is.”
