Voters across the country watched the long, drawn-out presidential race finally come to a close Tuesday evening, when Barrack Obama was re-elected as president of the United States.

In what was supposed to be one of the closest races in history, President Barack Obama beat Gov. Mitt Romney 301 to 203 in the Electoral College. To determine a winner, 270 electoral votes are required.

“I return to the White House more determined and more inspired than ever,” Obama said early Wednesday morning in his acceptance speech at the Democratic headquarters in Chicago.

Both candidates fought in a hard battle for the past year, trying to win over voters, especially in swing states. Parts of the campaign trail turned nasty with ads attempting to discredit the other candidate.
