Women’s Soccer:

The City College women’s soccer team dropped two conference games last week. On Tuesday, the Panthers hosted the Bear Cubs of Santa Rosa college in a match in which the City College women gave up the most goals they have all season–10–and were held scoreless in that game. City College then went on the road Friday and played at San Joaquin Delta College. Delta overpowered City College and won that game by a final score, 5-0. The Panthers are currently in last place in the Big 8 Conference with a 0-7 record in conference play.

After losing both conference games last week, the City College women’s soccer team will look to bounce back in two upcoming games this week. On Tuesday, Oct. 11, the Panthers will travel to take on the team currently sitting in third place in the Big 8 Conference: Folsom Lake College. City College will then return home and host Modesto Junior College on Thursday, Oct. 13. These two teams have played each other once this season in a game that the Modesto Pirates won 4-0.

Women’s Water Polo:

Sacramento City College’s women’s water polo team was in action last week. On Wednesday, the Panthers hosted the Mustangs of San Joaquin Delta College. Delta, in a tie for first place in the Big 8 conference, was too much for City College as they went on to beat the Panthers by final score of 10-3. City College then went on the road and traveled to Modesto to take on Saddleback College. The city college women were again overmatched and lost the game 11-5.

After dropping both games last week, the City College women’s water polo team gets a shot to rebound this week in two more games. On Wednesday, Oct. 12, the Panthers will travel to take on Fresno College. Sacramento will then stay on the road and travel to Foothill College Friday to begin a tournament in which they will open play against Laney College in the first round. The outcome of that game will determine if the Panthers get to play a second-round game on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Wrestling:

The City College wrestling team has been out of action since their fourth-place finish in the Santa Ana College Tournament Oct. 1. The Panthers will resume action Wednesday when they compete in two matches. The first match will be against the Sacramento State Hornets, followed by a match against the San Joaquin Delta Mustangs. Both matches will take place in the North Gym of City College.
