Is the world really going to end soon?

Many feel that, according to the Mayan calendar, humanity will no longer exist after Dec. 21, 2012. At City College, finals begin Dec 14 and that has led some to question whether studying for those exams is really all that important.

Students  who are not  gamblers and would like to know for sure can attend the Sac City Freethinkers Club’s Dec. 13 Forget Finals event in the Learning Resource Center, where information as to whether the world is really going to end will be discussed.

City College anthropology professor Michael Grofe will provide some real information on the Mayans and whether or not their calendar predicts the end of the world. City College astronomy professor Liam McDaid will examine the history of the alleged end of the world prophecies in a humorous and entertaining way.
