HAIRitage, an exhibit about barbershops and their rich history of building community told through fine art and photography, opened Feb. 8.

Print, photography, poetry and art explore the culture of barbershops at the exhibition. The Cultural Awareness Center and the Learning Resource Center hosted a Second Saturday opening, featuring authors Marichal J Brown and Gerry “Gos” Simpson.

Attendees enjoyed a live poetry recital by City College student and poet Alya Xandra Dozier. Additional poet artists included Dinah Atarah ‘Duckee’ Yisrael and City College student Steven ‘HurriKane Da Poet’ Clark, as well as City College alumni Charles Curtis Blackwell.

HAIRitage continues through Feb. 28 in the LRC Special Events room, located on the third floor.
