As rain begins to fall once more in Sacramento County and mist collects around students as they make their way to early classes, tis’ the wet season once more.

One thing most people hate about winter is, of course, the cold. It can be hard for students to stay focused in class and remain on campus all day long without a warm winter coat. Yet the Winter Coat Drive, sponsored by City College’s Classified Senate and the Student Associated Council, will provide students in need with proper outerwear to help keep them warm this season.

Jenny Davison, who works in the Student Leadership and Development office, was the one who created the Winter Coat Drive. She got approval from the College Senate and student council. She says all the students involved who helped initiate the coat drive have been very helpful and hopes it will be an annual event.

From Dec. 2-8, blue bins will be placed in the Student Center, in the hallway outside the counseling office, and outside the MESA office in RHS-122. Students are urged to donate their unused warm clothing. The collected clothing will be distributed on Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Quad, or the Student Center if it is raining or too cold.

Students who are in need of a good coat or warm outerwear this season are welcome to stop by and pick up a coat Tuesday. All leftover outerwear will be donated to the Salvation Army.
