Panthers place in top 10 in several track and field events

More than 250 athletes from seven contending Northern California junior college track teams took to Hughes Stadium Feb. 21 for the Pete Giachetti Invite.

Both men’s and women’s track teams competed in various track and field events including the 100-meter, the 400 relay, shot put and discus.

The Panthers had several top 10 finishes in several events and even had 10 top three finishes. Sophomore thrower Lovina Akauola had a big day with two first-place finishes in shot put and discus.
