A City College student’s cell phone was stolen early morning today in the West Lot area between 23rd Street and 12th Avenue.
According to the Los Rios Police Department Clery Crime Report, the student was asked by the suspect at 7:55 p.m. to borrow his phone and take a walk. The two proceeded to walk out of the West Lot toward 12th Avenue when the suspect was joined by a group of other men. The suspect with the phone and the group ran down 12th Avenue and got into a gray minivan.
There were five to six suspects involved. Police said one suspect had dreadlocks and another was wearing a red snow hat.
The Los Rios Community College District recently announced its new chancellor, Brian King, who was selected by the district’s Board of Trustees.
According to Interim Chancellor Jon Sharpe, King, who will begin his duties as chancellor on Feb. 1, 2013, has served as president and superintendent of Cabrillo College since 2004 and brings more than 20 years of community college teaching and administrative experience to his new position.
“At Cabrillo he is credited with guiding the
