Q: How do you handle school and being on the track and field team?
A: I have to prioritize. I put school first and track second. But being on the track team helps me to maintain my grades and prepares me for life’s struggles.
Q: How do you like the coaching staff?
A: They are all very nice. I knew them in high school, and I consider them as role models. They also help our team in life’s lessons.
Q: How are you preparing for the upcoming season?
A: I am training and working hard. I do double days when I can and it’s necessary, as well as staying focused on being injury free.
Q: How are you preparing differently this year than last year?
A: Due to cracked ribs last year, I wasn’t able to compete. I was off a full year, so now I’m working very hard to try to recover from that.
Q: How much do you run a week on average? How much do you lift weights?
A: I run everyday for a total of about 60 miles a week. I lift twice a week with little weight, but lots of reps.
Q: Do you have any favorite memories?
A: I would have to say that my favorite moments are during practice, because we get to bond as a team. But I also like our hangouts on weekends.
Q: Do you plan to run professionally in the future?
A: I ran for two years at Sacramento State and this will be my first and last year at City College. I hope to transfer to either Texas or Florida University to run. After that I really would like to run professionally, maybe in the Olympics
