We became slightly uneasy when the interviewer asked inflammatory questions that seemed to encourage us to speak badly of other cafes near-by. We took the moral high road and wished the best to the other cafes in our area. We told her we honestly believed there are enough people with varied tastes to provide ample and loyal patrons to all cafes around the college. We stated that there are ‘different markets served by the different cafes’.

Unfortunately, this must have disappointed because none of the interview questions, or responses, made it to the article, not even the correct spelling of our names.

Instead, what’s come of our ‘interview’ is a food critique by someone who has questionable qualifications to judge. It is true that not all products suit all tastes but common decency and kindness suits and serves us all better than misleading dishonesty and meanness.

I welcome anyone who reads this article to view our reviews on yelp or google. We also have a fan page on facbook where customers leave comments about our products.

Because those who are familiar with us are already aware that this article is about cruelty rather than about our cafe, I would also like to invite those unfamiliar with us to actually visit us and try our coffees and sandwiches for themselves.

Our coffee is composed of some of the finest beans on the market, roasted to the specific timing judged best for that batch of green bean by a panel of coffee specialist who have been in this industry for well over a decade. It wins awards all over the U.S.

While working at the roastery from which we purchase our beans, I’ve seen people happily wait over 40 minutes, repeatedly, for a latte made of the same espresso this writer has rejected.

Our beans are delivered within 36 hours of roasting and are processed by United Coffee House into beverages created with meticulous attention to detail given to each one.

Our sandwiches are created on locally baked bread with fresh produce and each one is made to order. They’re of good size and have flavor rich ingredients like roasted eggplant, cranberry and grilled onion relish, blue cheese and mild green chilies.

United Coffee House believes very strongly in what we serve and the public has been wildly supportive of us also. Our business continues to grow day to day, always gaining more familiar smiling faces and friends. United Coffee House serves what we believe to be the best possible product, produced by the best possible methods, to the best of our ability.

We’d love to serve these items to those familiar and new.

Considering that this journalist has had only one beverage in our cafe, and has never so much as seen our food, one stop into the café would make any visitor better equipped to formulate an opinion of worth more informed than that of the author.

Local businesses have a significant amount of difficulties surviving, especially as a coffee shop. The service I have personally received and witnessed far out beats the over-globalized coffee of Starbucks and Peete’s.

Not to often can you go to a place in the area with (1) parking, (2) free wifi, (3) owners who go above and beyond what coffee shops do for their customers, and (4) owners who believe in providing a venue for local talent. This place has added character to a street that is lifeless. There is a vision that when fully implemented over time will benefit this community. It already has…Second Saturday’s. It definitely adds value to the students who are limited in options for coffee, food, and free wifi.

Moreover, this place is better than being in a library where you can’t enjoy a drink and a good sandwich.

I pleased to invest in my community and know exactly where my dollars go. Moreover, the level of consciousness that both owners have is more than I can say for any chain that will put their share-holders first!

As I walked into United Coffee House for the very first time, it was like coming home.

The author of the article clearly knows only experiences at corporate coffee shops. If comparisons are to be made, this person should site better examples, such as comparing independents coffee houses with independent coffee houses, and corporate vs. corporate.

The best coffee to drink is French pressed, or at times referred to as pressed coffee… the best PERIOD. The other chain coffee houses don’t press their coffee, though they might upon request if you plead for it. For more information about a French press and pressed coffee, go to Wikipedia. I read through the information there and have found it accurate, as my former life was spent in the service industry working in restaurants and cafes.

Reading this silly review, I really want to breakdown it down, but I’m not going to go into to much depth as it clearly was written by someone hateful.

The author refers to an alluring smell in the first paragraph and follows with a contradiction in the second paragraph and someone what the third paragraph (I work in organics and find earthy smells quite pleasing). The fourth paragraph another reference, “tastes like the earth, literally,” this is a good thing! I’ve participated in coffee testing’s and all roasts have many earthy affects on the palette. Fifth paragraph… what local farmers?? Coffee is imported! How about support of local businesses! The sixth paragraph tells us the author is more than likely a first semester college student who likes corn syrup based frappuccinos.

I could continue to site what I see with this bad review and bash the author but I’ll stop here.

You’ll find this place is a part of the community serving up the best coffee around. It can be easy loosing time here studying the awesome art throughout. There is wifi here and a great place to bring your laptop. This is the best place to up with friends as well.

United Coffee House is well worth a visit.

The place does not stink, at all. Their coffee is fine and french-pressing ensures the best extraction; it may take a minute or two but you are getting supremely fresh coffee, as opposed to drip-coffee that’s brewed in the morning and sits all day in a tank. I had no problem with their beans, and even had several cups the first time I went there. It wasn’t very busy, but my wait was no longer than what I’d expect at Starbucks.

The sandwiches are freaking delicious. Did you even try one, or did you just balk at the price? They’re on par with the sandwiches at Dad’s kitchen, and their prices reflect the quality.

Tiffany and Harjinder are unbelievably friendly and welcoming, and even took the time to sit down and chat me up the very first time I went there. Good luck finding a Starbucks barista willing to go beyond their brew-time banter.

The way your review is written seems like you have an axe to grind, or perhaps you were just looking for a less-than-stellar experience so you could write a negative review. “I got a mucky, sea-tasting, batter-of-mildew-like substance that eroded the taste buds in my mouth. It took every ounce of my willpower and all of my acting chops not to spit the coffee right out of my mouth.” Really? If you’re going to wax poetic about how bad someone’s coffee is, you should at least know something about it. Maybe you ought to stick to your candy factories if you can’t handle real coffee.
