The Panthers lost to the Feather River College Golden Eagles by a score of 23-22 on Oct. 24, falling to a 3-5 record.
Victor Spencer scored on a 2-yard pass from Cody Allen on the first drive of the game at Hughes Stadium, resulting in a 6-0 lead after a missed extra point by James Ward.
The Golden Eagles were the first to score in the second quarter, but the Panthers responded with a receiving touchdown by Joe Pereira and a field goal by Ward.
Despite leading the most of the game, a blocked extra point returned by the Golden Eagles Reshaude Miller and a rushing touchdown by Ricky Mitchell in the fourth quarter resulted in the Panthers undoing.
The close loss caused a vocal altercation between both teams.
“It’s just emotions. Emotions run high after a win for one team and a loss for another team. It was a fought hard game all the way to the end.” said Interim Head Coach Dannie Walker.
The Panthers are 1-1 in Mid-Empire Conference play.
