Softball, track, baseball begin playoff runs

City College softball played Gavilan College in the first round of the Northern California Regional playoffs and the best of three series in two games.

They took the first game with a score of 4-1 and second 9-0. They are scheduled to play in the second round on May 9-10, their opponent is Shasta College.

Men’s and women’s track are competing in the Nor-Cal Finals this weekend at Diablo Valley College. High jumper Susan Jackson set a new school record at the Big 8 Conference finals, with a jump of 5-foot-9-inches. The women also won the overall Big 8 Conference championship.

Baseball finished its season with a 25-17 record and are ranked 14 in the Northern California Regional playoffs. They play third seeded Feather River College beginning May 8 at Feather River.
